Afterschool Programs
Pals - Grades K to 2
This group is a professionally directed program gather for sessions daily afterschool that provides young children with opportunities for fun, peer interactions, development of creative skills, positive social behaviors, building friendships, and exploring expressions of feelings.
The goals of the program are:
* Provide a safe, nurturing environment for young children
* Include fun-filled activities such as games and crafts
* Build confidence and self-esteem
* Provide positive, healthy relationships for children
* Help children to express feelings and act more peacefully
Afterschool - Grades 3 & 4
This group is a professionally directed program that meets daily afterschool for professionally directed mentoring and tutoring. The curriculum is asset-based focusing on their strengths and building their self-esteem to overcome their academic or social/behavioral challenges. This group works closely with the Gardner Public Schools faculty and parents in a unique and effective approach that is highly beneficial to the participants.
* Provide a nurturing environment of safety and respect that encourages learning, self-confidence, and independence.
* Provide a whole child approach by recognizing the participants’ strengths and identifying goals based on their individual need in academics and
personal development.
* Set participants on a path to successfully achieve grade promotions and ultimately high school graduation.
* Provide individual academic assistance and positive role modeling.
* Promote positive peer relationships
Teen Hope - Grades 5 - 7
This group is a professionally directed program that offers youth in grades 5 - 7 academic, cultural and social skill building support. The program provides youth with opportunities for leadership building activities and positive peer interactions.
* Provide motivation and assistance for youths to succeed in graduating high school
* Provide academic support
* Build study skills
* Assist youths in becoming proactive leaders and role models in the community
* Build confidence and self-esteem
* Provide positive peer relationships for youths to promote new skills and interests
* Provide a safe, nurturing environment for youths
All programs receive a lite dinner and snack during the program time and follow Massachusetts DESE Food Program guidelines
