The HOPE Job Readiness and Training Program (JR&T) is a comprehensive computer and job-skills training program preparing low-income adults 18 years and older who have already attained a high school diploma/GED to move to their next step on the path to self sufficiency, whether it be further training, returning to school or securing a job.
Participants in JR&T are enrolled in a 12 month education and skill building program.
The program begins with an 8-week, 192 hour, Computer and Job Readiness program that includes 14 hours a week of computer instruction each week, and 10 hours of weekly job readiness and life skills sessions, including such topics as career and college exploration, development of cover letter and resume, preparation for the interview, office etiquette, and career search. Life skills topics include solving problems of transportation and childcare, money management and self-esteem. Guest speakers include representatives from numerous collaborating organizations.
In addition, participants are offered the following services: HOPEful Boutique, a free clothing closet of professional attire; "Valuing Ourselves" Self Esteem workshop; internship opportunity offered in partnerships at local businesses, and nonprofit agencies. We additionally offer the participants a mentorship program with local business leaders in our area.
HOPE has enhanced and expanded its current offering of services under our HOPE Job Training & Readiness program with the following services in an effort to help adults move along the path to self-sufficiency, including, development of employment plans. The individualized step by step plans set out a course for employment in a living wage job. We track and support progress on the
plans for 12 months following graduation.
